A Bar/Bat Mitzvah is a special time in ones life. Send a free prayer or well wish to be inserted into the Wailing (Western) Wall for a child on their special day. We will also accept scanned, faxed or handwritten notes mailed to us, for a more secure and personal experience. Plus, you can view a video of your actual note being place into the Wailing Wall.

What is I've Done My Part?

It's a mandate to give to Jewish Charities.

Jewish parents spend about 2-5 billion dollars on Bar/Bat Mitzvah parties per year. This is a tremendous pool of potential donations. If we, as parents, re-allocate a small portion of these dollars to Jewish charities we can have a profound impact on Jewish organizations throughout the world. This spirit of giving is asked of our children and often required in order to have a Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

For a boy or girl to become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah many Synagogues require the children to do a Mitzvah Project (or a good deed). Many choose Mitzvah Projects encompassing community service, selling something at a local event and donating the proceeds to a charity or other charitable causes. These are great lessons for our children and provide a strong foundation for giving in the future.

What about the parents? We throw our children parties, some are simple parties and others are more elaborate with themes, DJ's, entertainment and other creative ideas attached to the party. Of course, as these parties get more elaborate they get more expensive, and too often, the meaning of the special event gets diluted. Yes, as parents, we are delighted to throw these parties but shouldn't we do our part? These once-in-a-life-time events are for our children, and we are blessed to throw them a special party, but let us go one step further and help Jewish Charities. Some parents do contribute to charities but most do not, at IDMP we want everyone to contribute. We want to create a national movement that will really have an impact and raise millions of dollars, through donations from parents and/or gifts received from the B'nai Mitzvah and from local vendors who provide services for these parties. It's about keeping the "Mitzvah" in Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

I've Done My Part is a non-profit charity created to raise money for Jewish Charities by targeting the parents throwing Bar/Bat Mitzvah parties and vendors who provide services for Bar/Bat Mitzvah parties.  I've Done My Part will support Jewish non-for-profit charities to promote the advancement of the Jewish religion. Specifically,  I've Done My Part will support child welfare, poverty, religious and Holocaust awareness and tolerance towards the betterment of the Jewish religion.

It is our aim at I've Done My Part to collect at least 10-20% of the party's cost and/or 10-20% of the gifts received, and then we will donate those proceeds to various Jewish Charities. To review a list of some of the charities we donate to, please refer to the "Charities"" tab. Of course, your donation requests will be honored as best we can, but cannot be guaranteed, due to certain laws governing non-profit corporations. In addition, we want vendors, such as, photographers, videographers, florists, caterers, etc., who provide services to Bar/Bat Mitzvah parties to make donations on a three level tier system: tier (1) a $500.00 level donation, tier (2) a $1,000.00 level donation and tier (3) a $5,000.00 level donation. For more information on our Vendor Donation Program works, please click the "Vendors" tab.

We encourage parents to sit down with their child and, as a family, explore and learn about the various charities which they can donate to. It will open your child's eyes to the scope and depth of giving to charities and strengthen the foundation of philanthropy for your child's future. What a great lesson for your child to learn, by your example of giving, and including them in the entire process. Imagine the impact and pride they will feel knowing that because of their Bar/Bat Mitzvah millions of people's lives will have been impacted, positively. Your child's most important day will now, literally, be a Mitzvah.

It is not our intent or desire at I've Done My Part to dictate to parents how to plan, budget or spend for your party that is strictly a personal decision. Everybody's budget is different, we respect and understand that it is your right to celebrate your party in any manner you deem appropriate. However, may we suggest?

  • If you have been blessed, please, bless others and make a donation.

  • If you are on a tight budget, make a donation, cut back without effecting you or your child's experience.
  • For those who are really struggling financially, perhaps, taking a loan from the gifts received and paying back your child at your leisure.
  • Please refer to the "Donate" tab for some simple suggestions on budgeting for your party.
  • Finally, just make it happen, just like you are making the photographer or the caterer happen, make this donation happen, please.
  • At I've Done My Part we are trying to start a grassroots movement from Synagogues by having Rabbis and/or Cantors suggest a donation at the time of planning the Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Obviously, we want the clergy to refer the parents to our web site to make a donation. This will provide a steady stream of donations throughout the year and help spread our cause for many years to come. To learn more about how we plan to engage the clergy to further our mission, go to the "Clergy" tab.

Can IDMP really have an impact? Absolutely, the Bar/Bat Mitzvah party industry represents a relatively untapped multi-billion dollar pool of potential donations. With this in mind, there are about 3700 synagogues in the USA, if each one had just 10 parents who donated the minimum, 10-20%, to our cause, we would raise close to $100,000,000.00 per year. The numbers can be staggering, and in this very conservative example, we are not including vendor donations. To understand how our Vendor Donation Program works, please click the "Vendors" tab. So, if we all donate, we can make a difference, and you too can say, "I've Done My Part."

We occasionally advertise on the internet but we prefer not to! After reading this web site, if you think this is an idea whose time has come, please forward our link to your friends and family with a personal endorsement of our cause. Do your part and help us spread the word.
